The Directory for St Raphael’s, Brentfield & Mitchell Brook
The St Raphael’s, Brentfield and Mitchell Brook Directory is a unique guide to our local area because of the way it is researched and compiled. The listings are supplied by resident’s themselves, which means that the products and services listed have satisfied customers living locally.
We published our first Local Directory in book form for the St Raphael’s, Brentfield and Mitchell Brook this year and we expect to publish the next edition within the next year.
Working with St Raphael’s Brentfield & Mitchell Brook Neighbourhood Renewal Fund we collected hundreds of suggestions for local products and services. By selling limited advertising space we were able to print 4,000 copies that were delivered free to all household s in the area.
The directory was based on a very successful formula that originated in Queen’s Park in the early 1990’s. We soon realised that the format was of interest to other local community groups and today5 we have nine printed editions covering over 40,000 households in NW2, NW6 and NW10.
The unique local feel has proved to be very popular with users and advertisers. For many local service businesses, from gardening to computer services, complementary medicine to home tutoring, the directories are the perfect advertising medium.
Now we have put our whole St Raphael’s, Brentfield & Mitchell Brook database on this website and it will be updated monthly. To find out how you can be included our directories, with a listing or an advertisement, follow the links on this page.
The first St Raphael’s, Brentfield & Mitchell Brook Directory was funded by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund but its continuing success will depend on the local advertisers who have chosen to support us; please return the favour and support these businesses and individuals. The professional task of assembling the information and advertisers and producing 4,000 finished books is undertaken by Kensal Green- based marketing consultancy MarketSpark.
The St Raphael’s, Brentfield and Mitchell Brook Neighbourhood Renewal Project
The St Raphael’s, Brentfield and Mitchell Brook neighbourhoods make up a large part of one of the most deprived areas in Brent and are among the top 10% most deprived areas in the country.
Unemployment is double the Brent average, pubic transport is far from adequate, and the North Circular negatively affects health and quality of life. But on the up side, there is a young and lively multicultural population, good access to open space, and close proximity to opportunities like the new Wembley Stadium.
The St Raphael’s, Brentfield and Mitchell Brook Neighbourhood Renewal Project, known as the NRP, was thus established in 2001 to co-ordinate local regeneration efforts. The team is based in the Old Boiler House in St Raphael’s Estate, right at the heart of the community.
The NRP vision, developed in close consultation with local people, is for…
‘…a neighbourhood in which the residents are proud to live and work. A neighbourhood where residents are fully involved in the ongoing regeneration of their area and are equipped with the skills to affect change amongst themselves’.
Local people are central to all stages of the delivery of the strategy for the three estates. Residents have identified the following areas of action: community safety, children and young people, the built environment and green spaces, community facilities, local services, health and employment.
You, your family and friends, may well have already been involved in some way – and many have commented on a marked change in the area already!
Please get in touch with us to find out more about any of our projects or community meetings. You are more than welcome!
You can pop into our office between 9am and 5pm on weekdays, or call us.
